Every piece of clothing we wear can be connected

to a human hand, a human heart, and a human soul.

ABOUT US

The Human Thread is a campaign to raise consciousness and empower Catholics to advocate for the plight of garment workers worldwide. The initiative was catalyzed by the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh on April 24, 2013, when 1133 garment workers were killed, exposing the wide range of abuses connected to the sourcing of clothing.

Informed by Catholic Social Teaching, the Human Thread seeks to foster Catholics’ awareness that promotes solidarity between consumers of clothing and the people who produce them in order to create a more just economy and sustainable communities. Our target audience is the wide range of stakeholders involved at different levels of Catholicism: parishes, Catholic colleges/universities, elementary and secondary schools.
